Handmade Flower

Download Activity Guide

Are you sick of your flowers drying out and fading away? Why not create your own bunch of flowers from tissue paper petals? You can make them any bright colour you like! And they'll last forever!

Search terms: wedding, bouquet, floral, flowers, mothers day, valentines day, mum, gift, present.

  • Step 1Glue a bright bead onto the end of your bamboo stick to create the centre of your flower.
  • Step 2Cut out small squares of brightly coloured tissue paper approximately 4cm x 5cm.
  • Step 3Trim the squares into oval shapes to create petals.
  • You can trim the squares into different shapes to create different flowers. Try fringing or cutting the petals into a pointed shape for another lovely effect.
  • Step 5Scrunch one of the short ends of the petal so that it gathers together. Attach the gathered end to the centre of your flower with glue.
  • Step 6Continue this process until you have covered your flower with petals.
  • Step 7Cut a thin long strip of green crepe paper to decorate the stem. Glue to the base of your flower and wrap down the bamboo stick. Glue the loose end to secure.
