Baker's Twine Christmas Tree

  • Step 1Trace a circle onto cardboard using a dinner plate or similar and then cut it out.
  • Step 2Cut a line from the edge of the circle to the centre.
  • Step 3Overlap cut edges of circle and pull together to create a cone shape. Once it is the preferred size, tape in place.
  • Step 4Trim bottom edge so that the cone sits flat and then cover it in cling wrap.
  • Step 5Dip long strips of twine into slightly watered down PVA glue and wrap them around the cone. Continue wrapping twine until you are happy with the coverage and then set it aside to dry completely.
  • Step 6Carefully pull cardboard cone and cling wrap out from the centre of the cone.
  • Pull one section off at a time rather than trying to pull the whole thing out at once. This will help keep the shape of the tree.
  • Step 8Finish your tree by wrapping metallic yarn around it.
