DIY Book Week Costume: Monster Mask

Step 1Download and print out the template provided. Print onto regular copy paper as these will only be used as templates to cut shapes from cardboard. Cut out the template pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 2Work out which colour cardboard you would like each piece to be and lay the template pieces over your chosen colours. Trace around each piece with a pencil.
Step 3Carefully cut out each of your coloured pieces.
Step 4Layer the pieces on top of an eye mask to create your monster face. Place the main mask piece down first, aligning the eye holes. Layer the round eye pieces on top, once again aligning the eye holes. Continue adding shapes to your mask using our completed image as a guide. Once you are happy with how it looks, use glue to attach everything in place. Allow to dry.
Step 5Flip the mask over so you can see the white eye mask. Poke a sharp pencil through the holes on either side of the mask, puncturing the coloured card on the other side. Thread the elastic for your eye mask through the holes and tie large knots in each end so it holds in place.
Step 6Your Monster Mask is now ready to wear! You could finish your outfit by wearing all brown and creating spines to run down your back.
