Decofoam

Get inspired with these great decofoam (also known as polystyrene) ideas!

Sequin Comet

Create a Sequin Comet that you can fly across the starry skies! A great activity for practicing fine motor skills and the perfect project for celebrating World Space Week!
  • Step 1Push a decofoam ball onto the end of a wooden skewer, being careful not to push it all the way through.
  • Step 2Sort the sequins so you have a pile of silver sequins. You can use the other colours for another craft project, or you might like to create colours of comet! Use plastic pins to start covering the decofoam ball in the silver sequins, pushing the pins through the sequin holes and into the decofoam below.
  • Step 3Continue adding sequins until the decofoam ball is completely covered.
  • Step 4Cut a few different lengths of red and yellow ribbon. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Find the centre of each length and push a plastic pin through the centre of each piece. Push the pin into the side of the decofoam ball to create the fiery tail of the comet.
  • Step 5Your Sequin Comet is now complete. Hold onto the skewer and fly your comet across the sky!
