Step 1Take two paper cups and paint the outside of them green. Allow to dry.
Step 2Cut the rim off one of the paper cups. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Cut down the sides of the cup on opposite sides, stopping at the base of the cup. Fold the two halves of the cup backwards to create a crease in the base – this will be the head of your crocodile.
Step 3Use a sharp pencil to poke a hole in the base of the cut cup. Position this hole close to the rim, in the middle of one of the halves, as shown. Take the full cup and poke a hole in the base. Position this hole close to the rim as shown. Poke a second hole in the full cup, this time on the side of the cup underneath the top rim. Position this hole so it is in line with the hole you poked in the base of the cup. You will now have one hole in the cut cup and two holes in the full cup.
Step 4Place the full cup so it is upside down and position the cut cup angled on top to create the head and body of the crocodile. Position the hole in the cut cup at the top and in line with the other two holes of the full cup. Glue the cups together to secure in place and allow to dry.
Step 5Cut a length of embroidery thread approximately 30cm long. Tie a large knot in one end and thread the other end through the hole in the cut cup from the inside to the outside. Pull the thread through until the knot stops on the inside of the cup. Push the loose end of the thread down through the hole in the base of the full cup then back out through the hole near the rim.
Step 6Decorate and cut out the templates provided. Valley fold the crocodile’s feet and spikes along the dotted lines. Alternatively, you can use the templates to trace the crocodile’s features onto coloured cover paper and cut out.
Step 7Use glue to secure all the pieces, except the tail, onto your crocodile as shown. Allow to dry.
Step 8Hold the tail in position next to the cup and trim the embroidery thread so it is the length of the tail. Use sticky tape to attach the thread to the tail.
Step 9Your Cup Crocodile is now complete! Pull and release the tail to open and close the crocodile’s mouth.
