Step 1Gather up all the scraps of felt that you have lying around. If you don’t have scraps, you can use full felt sheets.
Step 2Cut the felt into strips approximately 1-1.5cm wide. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. It doesn’t matter how long each piece is, so long as they are roughly the same width.
Step 3Take your first strip and roll it tightly into a coil. Use a glue gun to add some glue to the end of the felt and press down to secure in place. Adult supervision is recommended when using a glue gun.
Step 4Add a different coloured strip of felt, wrapping it around the first coil and adding small dabs of glue between the layers. Continue to add different coloured strips with glue, wrapping them around the previous strips as you go. Think about colours that might compliment or contrast each other. Continue adding felt pieces until your coaster is at the desired size.
You may want to make a really big felt circle and use it as a trivet for a pot!
