Before beginning this experiment, place a teaspoon of each of the powdered dye colours in separate jars and fill with water to create a red, yellow and blue liquid dye.
Step 1 Fill three jars with water leaving approximately 3cm unfilled at the top.
Step 2 Add a squirt of shaving foam on top of the water of each jar to create big fluffy ‘clouds’.
Try not to get too carried away adding the shaving foam! The more foam there is, the longer it will take to see the ‘rain’.
Step 3 Use a pipette to drop different colour combinations of coloured dye on top of the shaving cream. Watch as it flows through the ‘cloud’ and ‘rains’ into the water below.
Step 4 Observe what colour the water turns as the coloured ‘rain’ mixes and record your results.
