Bobblehead Bird Commentators

Step 1Cut two cups out of an egg carton. Trim one cup shorter than the other, this will be the head. Paint the egg cups in your chosen colour. Allow to dry. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 2Wrap a chenille stem around a pencil then slide the coil off the pencil. With a sharp pencil, poke a hole into the top of the body. Push one end of the coil spring through the hole.
Step 3Glue the inside of the head piece onto the top of the chenille stem coil. Allow to dry.
Step 4Print out the templates provided and trace onto orange cardboard. Carefully cut the pieces out. These will be the feet and beak.
Step 5Glue the bird’s feet to the bottom cup and the beak to the head. Glue some wiggle eyes to the head to complete the face. Allow to dry.
Step 6Glue a small pom pom to each side of the head. Cut a 3cm piece of chenille stem and bend into a curve. Glue one end to the top of each pom pom and allow to dry.
Step 7Cut two 5cm pieces of chenille stem for the wings. Bend into a loop. Cut a 3cm piece of chenille stem and wrap one end to create a small ball at the top for a microphone.
Step 8With a sharp pencil, poke a hole on each side of the body, towards the top. Push the wings into the holes and slide the microphone into one of the wing loops.
Step 9Your Bobblehead Bird Commentator is now ready to display! Press down on the head and let it go to watch it bobble.
