Step 1Print the templates provided. We recommend printing on cover paper, as this provides a sturdy base for constructing. Decorate using coloured markers or pencils or trace the templates onto different colours of cover paper. Cut out the template pieces, making sure to also cut along the internal lines for the Hair, Broom and Hat Brim pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 2Bend the Body template piece into a cone shape and use sticky tape or glue to secure together. Allow to dry if needed.
Step 3Draw a face onto the Face template piece. You may also like to attach some wiggle eyes. Glue the face to the cone as shown and allow to dry.
Step 4Roll the strips on the Hair template piece around a pencil to curl the ends of the hair to your liking. Glue the top of the Hair template to the cone, aligning it with the top of the face. Allow to dry.
Step 5Fold the tabs of the Hat Brim template piece up along the dotted lines. Apply glue to the inside of the tabs and slide the hat into place on the cone. Allow to dry.
Step 6Glue the Hat Ribbon template piece over the tabs of the Hat Brim. Allow to dry.
Step 7Cut two slits into the bottom of the cone – one at the front and one at the back. The slit at the front should measure approximately 3.5cm long, and the slit at the back should measure approximately 2cm long. Slide the Broom template piece into the slits and position how you would like. Cut two small strips of paper and glue them under the Broom across the slits in the cone. This will hold the Broom in place. Allow to dry.
Step 8Glue the arms to the cone so they rest on the Broom handle as shown. Allow to dry.
Step 9Cut a pattern around the bottom of the cone to create a textured finish. We have cut small triangles, but you can choose any pattern you like.
Step 10Glue the legs to the inside of the cone at an angle, so it looks like your witch is sitting on the Broom. Allow to dry.
Step 11Cut a 40cm length of craft line and poke it through the hole at the tip of the cone. Use sticky tape to attach the end to the inside of the cone.
Step 12Your Flying Witch is now ready to display! Make as many as you would like in different colours to create a coven of spooky witches.
