Mini Origami Santa

Get into the festive spirit and fold yourself a cute little Origami Santa! These mini Santas are perfect for creating Christmas cards, decorating your craft projects or even using as pencil toppers.
  • Watch our video titled “How to Make an Origami Santa” to help you understand and follow the steps below!
  • Step 1Take a piece of origami paper and fold in half horizontally with the white on the inside. Fold in the top left and right corners as shown and then unfold.
  • Step 2Take the top layer of the bottom left corner and fold the tip back to create a small white square. Fold the bottom layer backwards to match. Fold the top layer over a second time and then repeat on the bottom layer to match.
  • Step 3Fold the left hand side of the paper over to the right hand side to create a square. Wiggle your fingers under the top layer to push it out and open it up, then crease it down to create a triangle as shown.
  • Step 4Flip the paper over. Take the 2 layers of the bottom left corner and fold up to the top as shown, creating a triangle.
  • Step 5Fold the top layer down to create a square and crease, then move the point approximately 5mm up and crease again.
  • Step 6Flip the whole triangle back down before folding the tip of the bottom left corner backwards so it lines up with the paper underneath. Fold the whole triangle back up to the top again and create a small fold downwards along the top of the white edge.
  • Step 7Take the corner on the far right and fold upwards so the bottom edge runs along the vertical middle line then unfold. Take the far-right corner again, this time folding it inwards, so the long diagonal edge runs along the vertical middle line. Unfold. Using these two fold lines you’ve created, pinch the paper inwards, bringing the right-hand point upwards so it sits perpendicular to the paper below and crease in half as shown.
  • Step 8Fold the perpendicular paper down flat with the white tip towards the top edge of the paper. Hold the tip and bend it back diagonally creating a right angle to the middle line.
  • Step 9Take the top left point and fold the whole triangle over to the right-hand side. Take the corner on the far left and fold upwards so the bottom edge runs along the vertical middle line then unfold. Take the far-left corner again, this time folding it inwards so the long diagonal edge runs along the vertical middle line then unfold. Using these 2 fold lines you’ve created, pinch the paper inwards, bringing the left-hand point upwards so it sits perpendicular to the paper below and crease in half as shown.
  • Step 10Fold the perpendicular paper down flat with the white tip towards the top edge of the paper. Bring the middle triangle up and perpendicular so you can see the right-hand side then bend the white tip down. Bring the left down to a diagonal so it matches the right as shown.
  • Step 11Lay the middle triangle back down to the right-hand side and then bend it back to the left, creasing so the edges line up with the one underneath. Take the point that is now on the left-hand side and fold upwards as shown, then fold the whole edge backwards and behind.
  • Step 12Fold the point at the bottom upwards and tuck it into the slot at the bottom.
  • Step 13Draw on a face to complete your Origami Santa!
