Step 1Download the templates and print them out. We recommend printing onto cover paper as this provides a sturdy surface for folding and decorating. Use pencils or markers to colour in the flag and poppy scenes on the templates.
Step 2Carefully cut around the solid black outline of each template then cut along the dotted lines, so you have 4 paper strips for each image. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 3Cut around the outside of the large rectangle grid and accordion fold along the solid lines of the grid as shown.
Step 4Each panel of the grid is labelled with numbers 1-4 or letters a-d. Match the letter or number of each paper strip to the corresponding panel on the grid. Use glue to secure the strips to the correct panel. Allow to dry.
Step 5Glue the flaps on either side of the folded grid template piece flat onto an A4 piece of cover paper, making sure the concertinaed paper sits up. Allow to dry.
Step 6Your Poppy and Flag Optical Illusion is now ready to display! As you move from one side of the artwork to the other, the individual poppy and flag scenes will present themselves.
