Step 1Watch our video on Basic Macramé Knots before starting this project. You will need to use cow hitch and square knots in this design. Basic Macrame Knots: http://cleverpat.ch/BMKnot
Step 2Colour your metal hoop black using a permanent marker. Allow to dry.
Step 3Cut ten 1m lengths of macramé cord. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Attach each length to your metal hoop using a cow hitch knot. Adjust the lengths so they are along the top of the hoop as shown.
Step 4Create a square knot with the first four cords on the left. Use the next four cords to make another square knot. Repeat this process until you have a row of square knots across the top of your hoop.
CleverTip: When making each knot, pull tight on all the lengths of cord so the knots are consistent.
Step 5Leave out the first two cords on the left, then create another row of square knots below the first. You should have the two right-most cords left at the end.
Step 6Add a third row of square knots, this time starting with the first four cords on the left.
Step 7Separate the ends of the macramé cord about 3-4cm from the bottom so the threads become loose and frayed.
Step 8Cut out some crazy eyes and mouth shapes from black cardboard and glue them onto your macramé ghost using PVA glue. Allow to dry.
Step 9You can hang your ghost over a hook using the hoop, or you can create a hanger using a 40cm length of macramé cord. To create a hanger, thread the length through the top of the hoop and tie the ends together.
Step 10Your Hanging Macramé Ghost is now ready to display for Halloween!
