Step 1Take the back piece of the frame (the complete rectangle) and lay the cut frame piece with the thickest border on top. Trace around the inside of the frame and then put it to the side. Draw a circle somewhere within the pencil shape you just created. This will be the moon.
Step 2Use acrylic paint to decorate the frames. You want the back piece to be a gradient, radiating out from the moon that you drew. We have chosen oranges for a Halloween feel but you can choose whatever colours you like. Paint the thinnest of the frame pieces and the frame stand black. Add a small amount of white to black paint to create a dark grey colour. Use this to paint the middle frame piece. Add a little bit more white paint and paint the final thickest frame in this light grey colour. Allow all the pieces to dry.
Step 3Download and print the templates provided. Use them to cut out the silhouette pieces from black cover paper. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 4Glue the pumpkin and bat silhouette pieces onto the back piece of the frame. Position the bat anywhere you like, and the pumpkins as shown.
Step 5Glue the light grey, thick frame on top.
Step 6Glue the tree silhouettes on either side of the frame.
Step 7Glue the dark grey, middle frame on top.
Step 8Glue the grave silhouette piece along the bottom of the frame.
Step 9Glue the thin black frame on top.
Step 10Flip the frame over and glue the stand in place on the longer edge of the frame. Allow the whole thing to dry completely.
Step 11Your Layered Halloween Frame is now ready to display!
