Celebrate NAIDOC Week with this beautifully designed poster by Kerri-Ann Taggart. Kez is an Indigenous digital artist from the Hunter Valley NSW (Wonnarua land). Her design is based on the 2023 NAIDOC Week theme ‘For Our Elders’.
Kerri-Ann explains the inspiration for her artwork: “The long arms hugging the image are representative of a knowledge holder; an Elder. The longer the arm shown, the more knowledgeable they are. The arms encapsulate a family; sharing their knowledge to them. The pathways intertwined around the Elder’s arms connecting their life journey and experiences into their knowledge and stories the Elders share."
NAIDOC Week is a celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Celebrated in the first week of July (Sunday to Sunday) NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
