National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to reflect and learn about shared histories and cultures, and how we each can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. It is held annually from the 27th of May to the 3rd of June.
This Reconciliation Week Poster has been designed by Kerri-Ann Taggart. Kerri-Ann explains the inspiration for her artwork:
'Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future.'
The three gathering symbols are linked. At the top, the Past shows fewer people gathered, symbolising how knowledge fades as time passes and people move on. That knowledge flows down into the Present—the middle symbol—where more people are involved, creating a stronger base to build a better future for our culture and community. Then there is the Future, represented by the largest gathering symbol. It’s close, with room for even more people to join and grow. While the future’s within reach, we always carry lessons from the past. Wherever we are in life, we’re living and breathing our culture.
