  • Step 1Begin by giving your canvas a base coat, we used black paint. Allow to dry.
  • Step 2Sketch out your design onto a piece of paper before you start to decorate your canvas. You can look to our design for inspiration or do some research of your own to see what shapes and symbols are traditionally used in dot painting. Once you have a design, transfer it lightly onto your canvas using a pencil. This is not essential, but it helps with planning your design.
  • Step 3To create dots, lightly dab the wooden end of your paint brush into the paint and then onto your canvas.
  • Step 4Continue this process until your artwork is covered with dots, or you are happy with your design.
