Step 1Print out as many copies of the template as needed so you have one skier and one rectangle template piece per person. We recommend printing onto cover paper as this provides a sturdy base for decorating and constructing.
Step 2Decorate your skier using coloured pencils or markers and give them a racing number. Carefully cut out your skier and rectangle template pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 3Make sure each person has a straw. Roll the longest side of the rectangle template piece around the straw until you have formed a tube shape that can easily slide on and off the straw. Use some sticky tape to fasten it in this tube shape then push the paper tube to the end of the straw and place another piece of tape over one end, making sure that it is completely covered.
Step 4With your skier template laying print side down, pull the paper tube off the straw and place in vertically onto the back of the skier. Make sure to leave approximately 3cm of paper tube sticking out at the bottom. Secure in place with tape.
Step 5Take your straw and place the paper tube with the skier attached onto one end. Hold the straw in your hand and blow quickly into the other end to launch your ski jump racer into the air!
