BEAD My Valentine

A cute little activity perfect for practicing fine motor skills this Valentine’s Day! Develop hand-eye coordination and concentration skills as you create an adorable beaded heart. You could even extend the activity to include sorting and colour recognition! Will you BEAD my Valentine?
  • Step 1Take a chenille stem and thread beads all along its length, leaving 1cm free at either end.
  • Step 2Bring the ends of the chenille stem together and twist to join. You will now have a circle of beads.
  • Step 3Bend the beaded chenille stem into a heart shape.
  • Step 4Cut a simple square out of a bright sheet of cover paper, making sure it’s big enough that your beaded heart can sit on top. Adult supervision recommended when using scissors.
  • Step 5Lay the heart on top of the paper and then write a message for your Valentine in the middle of the heart. Think about a fun pun you could use!
  • Step 6Your Beaded Heart is now ready to give to your Valentine!
