Step 1Choose what sort of project you wish to create and make sure you have the extra accessories needed on hand, as well as your heishi beads.
Step 2To Make a Keyring/Bag Tag: Cut a piece of elastic twice as long as your desired length of your finished keyring. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Fold the elastic in half and attach it to a keyring using a cow hitch knot. Choose different colours of heishi beads and begin to thread them onto the elastic. Think about the pattern you wish to create and experiment with adding blocks of colour or single beads. You may wish to add in other designs or shapes of bead to compliment your heishi beads. Once you are happy with the design, tie the elastic in a double knot to hold the beads in place. Trim any excess elastic and your keyring/bag tag is now ready to use or gift!
Step 3To Make a Bracelet: Cut a length of elastic that is long enough to go around your wrist. Choose different colours of heishi beads and begin to thread them onto the elastic. Think about the pattern you wish to create and experiment with adding blocks of colour as well as single beads. You may wish to add in alphabet pony beads to spell out a message or a name. Choose how you’d like to finish your bracelet. You can use sliding knots, jewellery clasps or simply tie the ends together. Your bracelet is now ready to gift or wear!
