  • Step 1Protect your work surface with a splash mat. Wear an apron and gloves to protect your clothes and hands when working with mosaics.
  • Step 2Plan out the arrangement of your tiles roughly on a piece of paper. This will make it easier to place them in the right position.
  • Step 3Cover the area you would like to tile in mosaic cement. Follow the directions on the mosaic cement carefully and make sure to read the safety information before you use it. To apply the mosaic cement evenly, modelling tools are great to use.
  • Step 4Place the tiles on top of the mosaic cement. Leave small gaps between each tile. Leave the cement to set for at least 24 hours.
  • Step 5Prepare the tile grout. Follow the directions on the tile grout packet carefully and make sure to read the safety information before you use it. Apply the tile grout onto the arranged tiles using a damp sponge. Make sure the grout is evenly spread between all the tiles. Don't worry if there is some grout covering the tiles. Let the grout set slightly.
  • Step 6Gently wipe the grout off the tiles with a damp sponge and clean up any areas that you don't want grout covering.
  • Step 7Allow your mosaic art work to dry completely for at least 24 hours.
  • Step 8Fill your pot with soil and plant vegetables to suit the season.
  • Step 9Hang with jute twine.
