Step 1Use tacky glue to attach 2 spools on top of a string art board as shown. Allow to dry.
Step 2Cut a length of armature wire approximately 1.5m long. Adult supervision is recommended. Place some tacky glue into the holes of the spools then insert each end of the wire down into the spool. Bend the wire into your desired shape and allow the glue to dry.
Step 3Take a piece of stocking and tie a tight knot as close as you can to one end. Gather up the stocking, then open it up and slide it over your wire frame as shown.
Step 4Pull the stocking piece down over the string art board base, pulling it nice and tight but also making sure not to bend the sculpture out of place or tear it on the rough edges. Trim the excess stocking at the knot at the top as well as any excess from underneath the base.
Step 5Repeat steps 3 & 4 to add a second piece of stocking over the top. Make any adjustments to the shape of your sculpture then cover the sculpture in glue. This will fill the small holes of the stocking pieces, creating a smooth surface for decorating and hardening your sculpture’s form. Allow to dry.
Step 6Once the glue is completely dry, give your sculpture a coat of white paint. Allow to dry.
Step 7Decorate your sculpture using bright UV paints. You could create patterns, block colour or stick with only a couple of colours at a time - get creative! Allow to dry.
Step 8Your beautiful, bright sculpture is now ready to display! It will look amazing as it is, however if you have a dark room and a UV light your sculpture will really come to life!
