Cardboard Roll Roo

Create this fun and sporty 3D kangaroo inspired by ‘Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller’. 

Written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake A Minton and published by Little Book Press. ‘Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller’ will be read as a part of the ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime 2026 event!

  • Step 1Paint the outside of the cardboard roll orange and allow to dry.
  • Step 2Print and cut out the templates provided onto cover paper. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. We’ve used orange cover paper for our roo to match the cardboard roll. Decorate the headband template with your choice of coloured markers or paint. Allow to dry if needed.
  • Step 3Create a face for your cardboard roo by attaching two wiggle eyes with glue and a small pom pom to create a nose. Draw a mouth using a permanent pen. Allow to dry.
  • Step 4Glue the paper template pieces onto the cardboard roll as shown. Allow to dry.
  • Step 5Your Cardboard Roll Roo is now ready to display!
