If you are using cover paper, trim your paper down into a square before you begin.
Step 1Fold a matt paper square in half and then in half again. (You should have a folded piece of paper that is square, a quarter of the size of the original square). Fold in half diagonally to make a triangular shape.
Step 2Cut various small shapes out of the sides of the triangle.
Step 3Open up the folded paper to reveal your paper cutting artwork.
Step 4Glue the piece of coloured paper to a piece of white cover paper. Allow to dry.
Step 5Trim the excess white paper to frame your artwork.
Step 6To make a cat, fold the coloured paper in half. Cut out the shape of the cat’s head, remembering that you only need to cut out half of the image you wish to create.
Step 7Cut a semi-circle from the fold to create his nose and long rectangular shapes from the fold for whiskers, mouth and forehead lines. (Other cuts e.g. eyes and stripes will require the use of a scalpel and adult assistance will be required).
Step 8Open up the folded paper to reveal your paper cutting artwork.
Step 9Glue the piece of coloured paper to a piece of white cover paper. Allow to dry.
Step 10Trim the excess white paper to make a square.
