Step 1Use a pencil to sketch a poppy shape onto the plate. Start by sketching two circles in the centre of the plate - one small circle and then a bigger one around it. Also sketch some curved arches along the rim of the plate to create the 4 petals.
Step 2Use scissors to carefully cut around the sides of your petals. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Your poppy shape is now ready to decorate!
Step 3Make sure you have red, black and white tissue paper squares on hand ready to use. Take a square of white tissue paper and scrunch into a ball. Use tacky glue to stick it on the centre circle of your poppy.
The softer you scrunch the tissue paper the ‘fluffier’ the effect will be. Think about the texture you’d like to achieve and scrunch your paper accordingly.
Step 4Scrunch and add black tissue paper pieces to the circle around the white piece.
Step 5Cover the rest of the plate in red tissue paper. Scrunch and use glue to attach the tissue paper until it is completely filled.
Step 6Your Scrunch Art Paper Plate Poppy is now ready to display! Hang on your door for ANZAC Day or create a display.
