Dancing Monster

Download Activity Template
There’s nothing scary about these Dancing Monsters! This is the perfect activity to accompany texts such as ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
  • Step 1Download and print out the template provided. We suggest printing onto cardboard as this will provide a sturdy structure for assembling your monster!
  • Step 2Decorate the template pieces using your favourite decorating materials. You may wish to use markers, paint or collage materials. Allow to dry if needed. We have chosen to use paint, then glued some pieces of yarn to each piece to create fur!
  • Step 3Use scissors to carefully cut out the template pieces around the dotted lines. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Be sure to keep the diagram at the top right of the page to help with the construction of your monster.
  • Step 4Layer your pieces together so they resemble the diagram. Make sure you place the back arm and leg behind the body. Align the small circles as best as you can and push paper fasteners through the pieces, bending the fasteners open at the back to hold in place.
  • Step 5Your Monster is now ready to dance! Hold the Monster’s body and give it a shake to see the arms and legs move in a silly monster dance!
