Step 1Download and print as many copies of the template as needed. We recommend printing on cover paper, as this provides a sturdy surface for decorating and creating your treat box! We have given you two versions of the template to choose from – plain for you to decorate or pre-coloured. Choose whichever one you like.
Step 2Use the solid outlines as a guide to cut out each piece of the template. On the Box Top and Box Base pieces, cut each solid line around the edge of the circle up to the dotted line. Cut along the solid lines within Tassel Piece 2. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 3If using the plain template version, decorate with coloured markers or pencils. Make sure decorate the side without printing for the Cap and both Side pieces.
Step 4Take the Box Base and Box Top pieces. Fold each tab flat towards the centre of the circle, then position the tabs upwards.
Step 5On the Top – Side piece, apply glue to the grey area indicated ‘GLUE’. Press the tabs of the Box Top onto the glued section of the strip, wrapping the strip around to create a cylinder shape. Apply glue to the end of the strip to secure together. Repeat this step with the Box Base and Base – Side pieces. Allow to dry.
Step 6Apply glue to the grey area indicated on the Cap piece. Place the flat surface of the Box Top onto the glue and press to secure. Allow to dry.
Step 7To create the Tassel, take Tassel Piece 2 and barrel fold using the grey dotted lines as a guide. Glue the top to secure it in place. Allow to dry.
Step 8Fold Tassel Piece 3 in half using the grey dotted line as a guide. Apply glue to the inside of the strip then press together. Attach Tassel Piece 2 to one end of Tassel Piece 3 with glue. Wrap Tassel Piece 1 around the top of Tassel Piece 2 and secure in place with glue. Allow to dry.
Step 9Apply glue to the loose end of the tassel and attach it to the centre of the Cap. Allow to dry.
Step 10Congratulations! Your Graduation Treat Box is now ready to fill and gift!
