NAICD Animal Matching Game

National Aboriginal and Islander Children’s Day (NAICD) is held on the 4th of August every year and is a celebration of Indigenous children. Celebrate Children’s Day with this fun cube matching game illustrated by Michelle Napanangka Earl, a proud Darkinjung woman with Wonnarua ties.
  • Step 1Print the templates provided. We recommend printing on cover paper as this provides a great surface for decorating and construction. Colour in your templates using pencils or markers.
  • Step 2Cut out the templates along the solid black lines. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
  • Step 3Mountain fold both templates along the grey dotted lines.
  • Step 4Flip the templates over so the designs are facing down.
  • Step 5Apply glue to the tabs that say ‘Glue’ on one of your template pieces. Fold up the sides to create a cube shape, pressing the tabs against the inside walls of the cubes as you go. Repeat for the second template piece. Allow to dry.
  • Step 6Roll the cubes together to try and get matching animals on both cubes. The first person to match all 6 animals wins!
