Step 1We used nine paper plates to complete our dragon, but you can use however many you like .
Step 2Copy the Paper Plate Dragon Template onto A3 cover paper to begin. Set aside.
Step 3Cut or tear up pieces of red, orange and yellow crepe paper.
Step 4Coat a paper plate in PVA glue and cover it with the crepe paper pieces. Use both red and orange for contrast and texture.
Step 5Gently paint over the decorated plate with a coat of red or orange glitter paint, this will help stick any stray pieces of tissue paper down and add a touch of sparkle. To add even more sparkle sprinkle the plate with glitter while the paint is still wet. Allow to dry.
Step 6Decorate another paper plate using the same technique, this time using yellow crepe paper, yellow glitter paint and gold glitter. The yellow plate will be used for scales.
Step 7Once you have decorated the body and scale plates allow them to dry. To make the scales, draw them down the edge of a yellow plate and cut out, we used three plates to make the scales for our dragon. Attach one set of scales to the back of each paper plate with glue or tape.
Step 8Decorate the head, feet and tail. We used the same crepe paper technique as the plates.
Step 9Using the picture above as a guide, assemble your dragon using glue or tape.
