Pirate Shoulder Parrot

September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Construct your very own Pirate Shoulder Parrot to complete your Pirate costume!
  • Step 1Print the template provided onto A3 paper and use CleverPatch™ coloured markers to decorate your parrot & hat. You can also colour in the shoulder pad, however we are only using it as a template guide on coloured cardboard.
  • Step 2Glue each piece of the template to coloured card and cut out each piece. Use the shoulder piece as a guide and cut out a copy of it on coloured card. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
  • Step 3Fold the head, wings and tail inwards along the dotted lines. Tape the feet to the back of the parrot using masking tape and fold the bottom of the feet upwards along the dotted lines.
  • Step 4Measure a piece of white elastic under your armpit and around your shoulder. Cut and tie the ends together in a knot, then use masking tape to attach to the bottom of the shoulder piece.
  • Step 5Use masking tape on the bottom of the parrot's feet to attach to the top of the shoulder piece. You may also need to place a piece of masking tape behind each of the Parrot's legs to help him stand up straight. Your Pirate Shoulder Parrot is now ready to wear!
