Step 1Construct a diorama box using glue to secure it all together. Allow to dry.
Step 2Follow the lip running along the base of the front diorama window and cut slits through the frame on the left and the right. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Cut long arcs on either side of the diorama box from the slits you created in the front frame up to the top, back corners. Cut along the top of the back wall to remove the roof and the cut sides. Decorate the inside of the diorama box by gluing cover paper to represent the ground and the sky. Allow to dry.
Step 3Paint a decofoam half circle yellow and allow to dry. Attach it to the top left of the diorama using double sided tape. This will be the sun!
Step 4Make a model of a plant - you can be as creative as you like! We have used a paper straw and chenille stems. Attach to the middle of the diorama using double sided tape.
Step 5Create some cutouts to stick inside the diorama. Cut rectangles of cover paper and fold a thin strip on each to create a tab on the side. Use double sided tape on the tabs to attach them inside the diorama as shown.
Step 6Create labels for the diorama that are going to explain the process of photosynthesis. What does the plant need? What will the plant turn it into? We have made our labels as arrows that demonstrate what the plant absorbs and what it releases with their directions! Glue them in place onto the cutouts inside the diorama to give them a 3D look. Allow to dry.
Step 7Create a heading for your diorama to explain what is being demonstrated. Your Photosynthesis Diorama is now ready to display!
