Step 1Print and decorate the snowman template provided using your favourite craft materials. Allow to dry if needed. We recommend printing onto cover paper or cardboard for sturdy construction. Cut all of the pieces out along the solid black lines. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 2Valley fold along the grey dotted line on each of the snowmen shapes.
Step 3Apply glue to one side of a folded snowman then align another folded snowman on top. If you have chosen to do different colours for each piece, make sure to alternate the colours as you glue them down. Repeat this process with the remaining snowmen pieces. Allow to dry.
Step 4Cut a 30cm piece of embroidery thread and tie a knot in one end. Open the folded snowmen out flat so the undecorated halves are facing up. Lay the thread down the middle line with the knot at the bottom. Glue the first and last halves of the snowman together around the thread. Allow to dry.
Step 5Using a sewing needle, poke a hole through the dots marked on the remaining two template pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using sewing needles. Roll the ends of the long rectangle template piece around to form a cylinder, folding the circle down with the tabs inside to close one end. This will be the top part of the snowman’s hat. Glue the tabs and rectangle ends together to secure and allow to dry.
Step 6Thread a needle onto the excess thread coming from the top of the snowman and sew up through the middle of the circle template piece. Thread up through the open end of the cylinder piece you created in Step 5 and through the hole in the top of the hat. Push the pieces down in place on top of the snowman’s head.
Step 7Remove the needle and create a loop in the end of the thread, tying a knot and cutting away any excess. This will be the hanger. Fan out up the snowman so all sides can been seen.
Step 8Your Winter Snowman Decoration is now ready to display! Hang it in your window or create more snowmen and string them together to make a garland.
