Step 1Start by painting one side of the wooden hanging calendar panels blue. Allow to dry.
Step 2Choose 2 stencils and lay one on top of each of the wooden panels. Hold in place with masking tape.
Step 3Use an artist’s sponge to dab white paint over the stencil until it is completely covered. Allow to dry.
Step 4Carefully remove the tape and the stencil to reveal the design.
Step 5Cut six 4.5cm squares of cover paper. We have cut 2 x purple, 2 x orange and 2 x yellow pieces. Also cut out a red and a green rectangle, each measuring approximately 4.5 x 12cm. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. On the red rectangle write the words “To Do” and on the green write “Completed”. Laminate all of the pieces and then cut them out leaving a thin 2mm border around the edge.
Step 6Use tacky glue to stick one rectangle onto the top of each of the wooden panels.
Step 7Cut 6 pieces of white felt measuring approximately 3cm square. Use tacky glue to stick the felt to one side of each of the laminated square pieces.
Step 8Use a whiteboard marker to write your chores onto the other side of the laminated squares. This way if your chores change you can just wipe them off and re-write!
Step 9Add 2 rows of 3 Clever Dots to each of the wooden panels. Be sure to space them far enough apart to fit 3 of the laminated squares in each row.
Step 10Assemble your Wooden Calendar using the rings provided then cut 2 x 20cm pieces of white ribbon and tie through the holes on the left and right sides of the panels.
Step 11Finish your chore chart by using cover paper or paint and stencils to decorate the outside of the panels. Allow to dry if needed. Your Chore Chart is now ready to use!
