Step 1Protect your work area with a splash mat. Prepare your materials and make sure you have a pencil, scissors and glue on hand.
Step 2Fold a piece of cover paper over. Using the template on the following page cut out the horse’s body.
Step 3Paint three pegs black. Allow to dry.
Step 4Concertina fold a piece of black tissue paper. Twist the paper 6cm from the edge. Cut off at the twist and fringe. This will be the horse’s tail.
Step 5Attach the tail to the horse’s body with glue.
Step 6Cut off another piece of black tissue paper 4cm wide, fringe and glue to the side of one of your pegs. This is the horse’s mane. Allow to dry.
Step 7Attach the peg and mane to the horse’s neck with glue. Allow to dry. Peg the remaining two pegs onto the body as legs.
Step 8Cut an 8cm strip of orange and pink crepe paper. Cut a 15cm piece of gold and silver metallic yarn.
Step 9Drape the crepe strips and metallic yarn diagonally over the horse’s body, as shown above. Trim and glue in place.
Step 10Cut a blanket and saddle from blue and brown felt. Glue to the centre of the horse’s body as shown above. Allow to dry.
Step 11Push the pointed end of a skewer into a decofoam half circle so that it stands up. Paint with gold paint. Allow to dry.
Step 12Thread your horse’s body onto the skewer and glue in place. Allow to dry.
