Spring Daffodil

Download Activity Template
Create a bright and cheerful daffodil that really springs to life! Perfect for lessons based on the seasons, gardening and even for celebrating themed days such as Daffodil Day held on the fourth Thursday of August every year.
  • Step 1Download and print out the daffodil template provided onto white cardboard. We recommend printing onto cardboard as this provides a sturdy surface for decorating and constructing.
  • Step 2Decorate the template pieces using your favourite craft materials. Allow to dry if needed.
  • Step 3Cut out the template pieces along the solid black outlines. Make sure you also cut the lines around the smaller circle piece. Supervision is recommended when using scissors.
  • Step 4Place the ends of the two thin strips of paper together so they form a right angle, making sure the corners are aligned. Use glue between the pieces to secure. Allow to dry.
  • Step 5Fold the paper strips to create a paper spring. Fold the bottom paper strip over the top paper strip. Repeat with the other side. Continue to fold both pieces of paper alternately over the centre square until you reach the end. Secure with glue and allow to dry.
  • Step 6Glue the bottom of the spring to the centre of the circle template and allow to dry. Fold the square at the top of the spring in half diagonally.
  • Step 7Layer the two petal pieces together, making sure all the petals are visible. Glue between the layers to secure. Take the smaller circle piece and valley fold the strips around the circle so they are sticking upright. Glue the centre of the circle to the front of the petals. Apply glue to the top of the paper spring and attach to the back of your daffodil, so that the Daffodil is facing forward. Allow to dry.
  • Step 8Your Spring Daffodil is now complete! Gently pull the daffodil back and release to see it rock back and forth.
