Iron Bead Snowflake Garland

Enjoy winter inside, out of the cold and create beautiful iron bead snowflakes for a decorative garland!

Please note: You will also need an iron to complete this activity.
  • Step 1Print out the templates provided and place your chosen design beneath the pegboard.
  • Step 2Arrange the iron beads on the board, following the template underneath.
  • Step 3Place a piece of ironing paper over your design, covering it completely and then iron. Adult supervision is recommended when using an iron.
  • Make sure not to melt the beads too much as you still want to be able to see the hole in each bead. This will make threading the garland easier at the end.
  • Step 4Once the beads have melted together, quickly flip your design over so it’s on the ironing paper. Remove the pegboard and place another piece of ironing paper on top of your design. Continue to iron this other side of the design.
  • Step 5While the snowflake is still warm, carefully sprinkle some silver glitter over both sides, using a paper plate or scrap paper to catch any excess.
  • Step 6Place the snowflake back between the ironing paper and iron both sides again. This will fix the glitter to the snowflake. Allow to cool completely.
  • Step 7Continue to make snowflakes using the templates provided or by coming up with designs of your own.
  • Step 8Thread the snowflakes onto a piece of metallic yarn using a needle to push through the holes of the beads. String as many snowflakes as you want to create your beautiful garland!
