Flowerpot Ice Cream Pin Cushion

Step 1Clean your porcelain pot with soapy water and dry well. When applying the porcelain markers be careful not to be over generous as the paint can drip as it dries. Shake the markers well before use.
Step 2Sketch out your design onto a piece of paper before you start to decorate your pot. Look to our design above for inspiration or come up with your own.
Step 3Copy your design onto the pot with porcelain markers. Allow the markers and paint to dry for a minimum of 24 hours.
Step 4Once dry, place the pot into a cold household oven. Once the temperature has reached 160°C, bake your plate for 90 minutes to heat set your design.
Remember, when baking your pot, DO NOT pre-heat the oven. The difference in temperature may cause your pot to crack. Instead, put your pot in a cold oven, then turn the oven on.
Step 6Cut a circle of purple felt.
You may like to create a template. Using your pot as a guide, draw a circle onto a piece of paper approximately 1 inch larger than your pot. Pin your template to your piece of felt and cut it out.
Step 8Fill your pot with wadding. Place your felt circle over the pot and tuck in the edges. Secure in place with a hot glue gun.
Step 9Glue a red pom pom cherry to the centre of your ice cream. Cut a small piece of green chenille stem for the stalk and attach to the red pom pom with glue. Allow to dry.
Step 10Poke pins into your cushion for Mum!
