'Withering-By-Sea' Detective Dress Up

Get your spy on with this very mysterious detective costume. You’ll be solving crimes all over the place now that you look the part!

  • Step 1To create your magnifying glass, attach a dolly peg to a wooden bangle with glue. Allow to dry.
  • We used a hot glue gun for this step but PVA glue would also work.
  • Step 3Paint your magnifying glass with black paint. Allow to dry.
  • Step 4To create your detective hat, place 1 cap inside another cap with the brims facing in opposite directions. Attach with glue. Allow to dry.
  • Step 5Cut 3 long strips from black felt about 1cm wide.
  • Step 6Place the strips across your cap as pictured and attach with glue.
  • Step 7To create your beard disguise, use the template provided. Cut out your beard and moustache from black felt.
  • Step 8Tie or glue a piece of elastic to the sides of your beard, making sure you test the length around your head before securing with a double knot.
  • Step 9Now you are ready to be a Detective!
