Father's Day 3D Wooden Pencil Holder

  • Protect your work area, prepare your materials and make sure you have glue and paint brushes on hand.
  • Step 1Assemble your 3D pencil holder before decorating to ensure easy construction. For permanent assembly you will need to glue the pieces together.
  • Step 2Decide what you would like to create. We made a golf bag and a shirt pocket for Dad to store his pencils in.
  • Step 3Begin by giving your pencil holder a coat of white paint. Allow to dry. This is not essential but provides a good base for painting.
  • If you would like to use craft paper as a background (like we did for the shirt) use the pencil holder as a template and trace the front onto your paper. Carefully cut out the shape and glue it onto your pencil holder. Allow to dry.
  • Step 5To create a shirt pocket, cut a pocket shape out of blue felt and sew a plain running stitch around the sides and bottom of the felt with white embroidery thread. Attach the pocket to your pencil holder with glue, leaving the top open so you can put things inside. Allow the glue to dry completely.
