3D Cardboard Fish

Oh, I wish I were a fishy in the sea – in the SEA! Celebrate World Oceans Day with this adorable 3D Cardboard Fish. Print out our free template and decorate your fish with bright colours before constructing to create a beautiful display.
  • Step 1Download and print out the template provided onto white cardboard. We suggest printing on cardboard for sturdy construction.
  • The template can also be enlarged or reduced on a photocopier according to your requirements. If you are completing this activity as a group, you may wish to print a variety of sizes to create a fun fishy display!
  • Step 2Decorate your template using bright colours. You can use markers, pencils or paint. Allow to dry if needed.
  • Step 3Cut the decorated template out around the thick black outline. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
  • Step 4Valley fold the dotted lines across the top and bottom fins of the fish, then mountain fold along the other dotted lines.
  • To make folding easier, you may wish to score the dotted lines using a ruler and open pair of scissors. Adult supervision is recommended.
  • Step 5Glue the tabs on either side of the square and triangle base to the underside of each fish shape. Allow to dry.
  • Step 6Glue the two top fins and the top of the tails of the fish together. Allow to dry.
  • Step 7Your 3D Cardboard Fish is now ready to display! If you want to hang your fish, simply punch a hole through the top fin and add some string or twine to create a hanger.
