Dazzling Papier Mache Birdhouses

Step 1Give your birdhouse a base coat of white paint. This is not essential but provides a good base for painting. Allow to dry.
Step 2If you’re after a full coverage of colour, paint your birdhouse with a bright colour. Allow to dry.
Step 3Think about different patterns and textures you could add to your birdhouse and use paint or collage materials to achieve this.
Step 4To add some sparkle to your birdhouse, cover the areas of your birdhouse with a light coat of glue. While the glue is still tacky, sprinkle glitter over the glue covering it entirely. Allow to dry.
For less glitter wastage, use a scrap piece of paper folded in half to catch the glitter falling off the roof while decorating. This will make it easy to tip the glitter back into the container ready to reuse!
Step 5Jazz up your birdhouse by decorating with sequins. Attach with glue.
Step 6Another way to add detail to your birdhouse is to use the end of a cotton filter to paint dots on your birdhouse. Allow to dry. Or try using a black marker to draw on some finer detail.
