Step 1Begin by tearing or cutting half a sheet of the yellow tissue paper into smaller pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Use PVA glue and a glue brush to stick the pieces of yellow tissue to the outside of the mason jar. Continue until it is completely covered then allow to dry.
Step 2Use a sheet of green tissue paper to create the top of the pineapple. First cut a thin strip off the sheet then chop into some small pieces to stick around the rim of the jar. Take the rest of the sheet and glue it to the inside rim of the jar so it wraps all the way around. You can concertina the paper to fit if needed. Allow to dry and them trim the top to create a jagged edge that looks like the spiky leaves of a pineapple.
Step 3Take 2m of twine and attach one end to the rim of the jar using a glue dot. Wrap the twine around and around, holding the other end in place with a glue dot when you run out of twine.
Step 4Starting at the point where the twine ended, use a glue dot to attach a button. Continue to stick buttons all the way around the rim using glue dots.
Step 5Use a permanent marker to draw on the pineapple’s texture.
Step 6Place an LED tealight candle into the jar.
Step 7Turn out the lights to watch the lantern glow beautifully in the dark!
