Step 4Use the template provided to cut out a leaf from cardboard. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Decorate using Washi Glitter Tape.
Step 5Cut 2 squares of clear book covering, each large enough to cover a side of the leaf. Peel the backing off one square and lay the leaf on top. Cut around the edge of the leaf leaving a 1cm border that you can then fold over onto the leaf. Peel the backing off the second square and lay the leaf, uncovered side down, onto the covering. Cut around the edge leaving a 1cm border and folding it over as you did before. Alternatively, you can laminate the leaf and cut around the edge.
Step 6Attach the leaf to the stem by rolling the long end of the leaf around the wind spinner stem and holding in place using tape.
Step 7At this stage your wind spinner is ready for the garden, however you may wish to add a cute little critter like we did! Paint a small decofoam ball using yellow and black paint then allow to dry. Add wiggle eyes, a pair of chenille stem wings and a stinger to create a bee. Take a length of armature wire and poke it into the top of the bee. Wrap the other end around the back of the wind spinner and bend it over the top of the petals, making sure it doesn’t get in the way of the petals spinning.
Step 8Your bright Fabric Wind Spinner is now ready to be placed amongst your plants!
Make sure the wind spinner is placed in a covered area as parts, such as the bee, may not be weatherproof.
Step 1Start by assembling the Fabric Wind Spinner then decorate using CleverPatch Fabric Markers. Heat set using an iron to make colourfast. Use a cloth or towel between the iron and petals.
Step 2Add a touch of sparkle to the wind spinner by covering a couple of the petals in PVA glue and sprinkling fine glitter over the top. Use scrap paper or paper plates to catch any excess glitter. Allow to dry.
Step 3Wrap green Washi Glitter Tape down the length of the wind spinner’s stem, until it is completely covered.
