3D Glasses & Shark Anaglyph

Watch the shark jump from the page as you create your own 3D glasses and use our template to create your own 3D drawing! An anaglyph uses complementary colours to show two slightly different views of the same image. When viewed through glasses with the same colours to filter what we see, the image appears like it’s almost jumping off the page!
  • Step 1Cut a small piece of blue and red cellophane to fit over the eye holes in the cardboard glasses. Use a glue stick to secure them in place and allow to dry. Flip the glasses over and use a permanent pen to create a fun pattern on the front. You have now created your 3D glasses!
  • Step 2Print the provided template and place a sheet of tracing paper over the top.
  • Step 3Use a blue marker to trace around the outline of the shark. Allow to dry.
  • Step 4Shift the tracing paper slightly up and left. Use a red marker to trace the outline of the shark template again. You have now created an anaglyph!
  • Step 5Time to view your image! Put on the 3D glasses that you created in step 1 and look at your anaglyph. What do you see? What is the blue lens showing? What is the red lens showing? What are your eyes/brain doing when you’re looking through both lenses of the glasses at the same time? Record your findings. Why not see if you can come up with a drawing to create your own anaglyph?!
