Step 1Start by creating your koala’s face and body using a paper cup. Paint the outside of a cup in your chosen colour then allow to dry. Add in details such as a nose and top of the belly with paint. Allow to dry. Use glue dots to attach two wiggle eyes in place.
Step 2Download and print the templates provided on cover paper. Decorate the arm template piece and allow to dry. Cut out the arm template and mountain fold in half. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Use glue dots to secure the arms at the bottom of the cup so the heart is popping out in front of the koala.
Step 3Time to make the pom pom ears! Use the template provided to cut a pom pom maker out of sturdy material such as a thick cardboard box. Cut 20m of soft yarn in your chosen colour. Wrap the yarn around the pom pom maker as shown, making sure to wrap around the end with the split in it. Cut another 20cm length of yarn and thread it through the split in the pom pom maker. Tie the ends tightly around the middle of the wrapped yarn as shown. Use a double knot to secure. Slide your scissors up one side between the pom pom maker and the wrapped yarn. Move the scissors to the edge of the pom pom maker and cut the looped ends of the yarn. Repeat on the opposite side to release the yarn from the pom pom maker.
Step 4Trim the yarn to create a nice, round pom pom. You will likely need to trim quite a bit to ensure the pom pom is full and fluffy! Repeat steps 3 and 4 to create a second pom pom.
Step 5Use several glue dots to attach the pom poms to the top of the cup, creating the koala’s ears.
Step 6Your ‘I Love You Beary Much’ Koala is now ready to gift!
