Step 1Wrap the ribbon around the head band, making sure you overlap as you go to completely cover the plastic. Cut and secure the ribbon ends with tape or glue. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Allow to dry if needed.
Step 2On a sheet of green cardboard, trace around the top of a paper cup. Use the circle as a guide and draw a four-leaf clover within the circle, then add a stem to the bottom. Erase the circle lines leaving the outline of the clover and cut out.
Step 3On the same piece of cardboard, trace around the top of a paper cup again. Cut out the circle and attach it to the rim of the cup with tape.
Step 4Measure and cut a 9cm wide strip of cardboard. Wrap the cardboard around the cup to completely cover it. Secure with tape.
Step 5Measure and cut a 10 x 10cm square of cardboard. Attach to the bottom and sides of the cup with tape.
Step 6Measure a 5 x 5cm square on yellow cover paper. Inside the square, measure a small 3 x 3cm square 1cm in from the outside square. Cut out the large square, then cut the middle square out to create a square frame that will be your buckle.
Step 7Measure and cut a 3cm wide strip of black cover paper. Use a white POSCA marker to add hem details to the black strip. Wrap around the bottom of your green cardboard hat and tape at the back to secure.
Step 8Use glue dots to attach the buckle to the front of your hat.
Step 9Use glue dots to attach the clover to your hat so it sticks out from the side.
Step 10Attach your hat to the head band with tape. Your St. Patrick’s Day Paper Cup Hat is now ready to wear!
