Leaf Lanterns

Explore the outdoors and collect some interesting looking leaves from your surrounding environment to create these DIY Leaf Lanterns.

  • Step 1Drizzle glue over a sheet of tissue paper and arrange your leaves over the surface.
  • Step 2Drizzle some more glue over your leaves and fold your sheet of tissue paper in half length ways to create a long strip. Place some books over the top to act as a weight and allow to dry.
  • Step 3Wrap your leafy tissue paper around your jar or tealight holder and secure in place with glue. Fold any excess tissue paper under at the base of your jar or tealight holder. Trim any excess at the top of your jar or tealight holder. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Allow to dry.
  • Step 4Tie a piece of twine around your jar or tealight holder and secure with a neat bow.
  • Step 5Place a tealight candle in your jar or tealight holder or make your own candle. Take a look at our Candle Making Tips and Techniques for more information. Your Leaf Lantern is now ready to light up the room!
