Step 1Add a candlewick to a glass jar. Attach your candlewick to the bottom of your jar using Blu-Tack (you can use candlewick holders if you have them!).
Step 2Fill a paper cup with soy wax.
Step 3Place your wax into a microwave on a low heat for a short amount of time. Mix with a popstick. Do not allow the wax to smoke. The wax will be very hot, be careful not to burn yourself. Adult assistance and supervision is required.
Your wax will reduce in size approximately 20% once melted. Experiment with the quantity of wax you use to create different size candles.
Step 4We coloured our candle by adding some shaved paraffin wax crayon. Experiment with quantity and colours.
Step 5Carefully pour your wax into your jar. Adult assistance and supervision is required. Leave to set for 24 hours. Once set, trim the wick for burning and your candle is now ready to light!
You could also set a candle in a paper cup. Once dry, tear the cup from your candle and place on a dish.
